D.5. EUROPEAN ADDED VALUE (8 points)

What is the added value of your project towards a more intensive European cooperation? (2500 characters)

With the Hidden Talents project pupils and their teachers are given the chance to travel to partner European countries. During the visit, we are immersed in the everyday routine of the host families and witness the differences in the lifestyles. We have opportunities to deepen our knowledge about partner countries and improve our language skills by using English as the language of communication and being introduced to less known European languages such as Slovakian, Croatian, Polish, Romanian or Hungarian. We are going to compare European educational systems, and collaborate to achieve the goals of our project. Students will realize most of the stereotypes they have about European Union are based on guesses, not on the facts and knowledge of EU. We will recognize that individual problems are global, European, and thus can objectively recognize personal chances. The international conference as the fruit of our collaboration on the European level will help us gain a much deeper insight into the methods of working with children with special talent. In the framework of the project children have opportunities to compete their abilities on the fields of music, art, craft, and drama, story-telling and writing on international level. A DAY TOGETHER FOR EUROPE is an event which will take place in each school during mobilities. It will be an opportunity for visitors to promote their country to the host staff, students, local community and mass media. We also intend to organize open lessons during mobilities: visiting teachers will get a unique chance to visit and monitor a lesson. Additionally, teachers who are accustomed to European cooperation, hand down this aptitude to the students, even subconsciously. Students who can observe their teachers working on the European level become convinced that such a European approach is natural and desired. ‍‍Students will produce written material, paint, listen to other people and made themselves heard. Participants try their hand at photography, play and listen to various kinds of music and produce their own CD’s and DVD’s. Children will create mosaic maps of their own country and the maps of EU.‍‍ ‍‍The great advantage of the final product – the Hidden European Talents Wiki - is that a lot of students can contribute to its creation whilst only a few students will travel abroad. All partner schools can maintain the Wiki after the formal project will have ended and year after year have a showcase for their students talents.
